"A Monster of the Mojave"
I spent 1984-2006 studying, working and teaching costume building and costume design for theatre,TV and film. Occasionally set design too.
In 2006, I started to explore other mediums by making lamps, pop art terrariums, air plant hangers and polymer clay art dolls. In 2010 when I came to the desert, I was enchanted by the landscape since I came from a rain forest in Canada (where I still live half time). I took up sculpting " Mojave Monsters" from bits of wood I found in the desert and photography with "Desert Aliens" and "Desert Detritus" pictures.
Always a thrift store junkie, I earned some internet attention in 2012 for my "Alien Vacation" series of altered thrift store prints. These days I've been creating miniature sets and characters for my "Desert Dioramas" series of photos and creating lenticular collages using my polymer clay figurines as subjects.
